My Reflection On the ENG3UI Experience
The ENG3UI course has introduced me to a variety of new works: from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, to Shakespeare's Macbeth, to Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights; all the way to my independently chosen novel: Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden.
Overall, the theme ENG3UI is Human Rights. Over the course of the semester, our class took a look at what exactly Human Rights are, and were able to make connections to them as we moved through different assignments and projects.
For me, I was personally happy to have the course relate to Human Rights. In my opinion, this has made the course feel more relevant to the world around us, and made me more engaged. Our class was also connected to the world in a different way. For the entire semester, our class used Google Chromebooks to complete work and participate in class discussions. Not once this semester did I have to pull out a piece of paper (which was nice). Based on my experience, this is the way that all English classrooms should be like in the future.
Looking back on the semester as a whole, I could have done better to hand in diagnostic work, in order to receive more feedback for the summative activities near the end. Still, I feel like I have gotten much better at formal writing, as well as analyzing and communicating myself through a variety of medians.
